A quick update!

Hi there! It's be quite a while, and over that time I haven't made an update post ever! I might wanna start doing these from time to time so you understand how much progress is being made.

So before I did say I was tapping away at some of the smaller features so I could work on the larger features after, which admittedly is a weird way of working, and I may switch my workflow going forward once I've got enough stuff done. So right now I've got basic character movement that is both WASD based and Arrow Key based. Anyway this isn't meant to be a paragraph of me describing what I put into the game so far, so I'll just make a list!

  • I've added in actual Control Mapping, but I haven't added in controller support yet, and that'll be something I do rather quickly once I get to it, and it shouldn't be too difficult to do either!
    • Input is managed using the Rewired Input Manager, now I could've totally put forth the effort of just making my own control mapper, but the problem is that I don't know if I can add controller support if I do that.
  • Camera rotation is now based on mouse movement, because previously the way it would work before was just arrow key presses.
  • Directional Captions are implemented, but can't be properly utilized!
    • They work exactly how they do in plus, BUT- I do plan to make it so that they work like they do in the game Façade, Because I'd like to make some of the features unique, if it is at all possible, I will be sure to rework the Captions.
  • The menu sprites have been completely rerendered to totally remove the neck! this is so that it doesn't look odd at all.
    • Now Jim... can totally hide his neck behind his head, y'know- As if he was laying stomach down! Here's what that looks like:

I don't really have much more to say about the development on JBTC, but I have been also making music for the game as well. I'm unfortunately very burnt out so the next song might take a bit to get made, but once I'm feeling better, I'll hop right on it!

Oh, and if you're looking to see how Captions work, here's the video!

I'll definitely need to tweak the volume curve of the sound source so that it's pretty much harder to hear if the Caption is tiny.

AND here's a potential loading screen!

I think that's pretty much it- OH WAIT! Yeah there's a bandcamp page, here's the link!

Keep watch of this, because it'll be updated almost immediately after the game releases.
And that's pretty much it! I hope this game can be the best it can be- I don't want it to disappoint, so I'll work really hard on it and get everything working!!!
