2025... is not quite going as I planned. (Let's talk)

Hello all, unfortunately, this devlog is something I didn't want to make, but it needs to be mentioned so that it doesn't appear as if I'm abandoning the project. So, let's start off with clearing a few things up!

Firstly, I want to begin by saying I'm sorry, for not taking into account how vastly the year could shift for me, and how my plans for the game have dulled and development has became stagnant as I've been trying to figure out life more. And truthfully, as much as I don't want anyone upset with me for not being able to work on the game fulltime, I can understand partial frustration, if this is a project you're enthusiastic about checking out when it releases fully, or when a demo releases...

Yeah! I... never clarified once that I'd be releasing a demo within the next year, I want to make it count but I'm so horrible with deadlines that if I tried to squeeze a demo out on a specific date, I'd end up rushing out a sloppy mess. In the end, I don't want to end up cancelling Jim's Basical Tutor Class, just because I cannot work on it the way I want. Working on it part-time is better than just.. not working on it at all.

And in scope, I've done quite a bit at the beginning of this year, I wrote an Audio System specifically for 2D spaces, I remodeled Jim, I've experimented with art styles, I've gotten into contact with another scripter that would help me get development going again. In short, I want to point out that I am looking for helpers and contributors. I still am. But I'm also making sure to not burn myself out like I've done several times in the last year with this project alone.

I've learned a lot in the past year, and it's that in order to get this game done within a specific timeframe, I cannot work on this indie. This simply cannot be an indie game if I want to get it out there (without rushing it and slopping things together).

That being said, with the current pacing, I expect something to be out next year, and I want to be very clear when I say this, but I don't want to say that and not mean it. I'm just as tired as you are of constant interruptions of plans, and I would just love to hear from people about what they might think of the game once it's at a playable, and fun state.

I've also been mainly writing plans and ideas down for the game in my Game Design Document, which should speed the process up too, especially given the fact that I had to completely sweep the project of dated assets, in favour of newer, cleaner, more finalised assets back in 2024. 2024 marked a new era of the development for this game, essentially rebooting it, and giving me another shot to fix what I did wrong when I started it back in 2022. I'm really glad I'm doing this planning, because truthfully if I had continued to just aimlessly develop the game like I'd planned to in 2022, it would've came out to be a jumbled mess. I seriously needed to stop and think before continuing into serious development.

And as more updates to Baldi's Basics Plus released, it made me realise that I need to take Jim's Basical Tutor Class' development a LOT more serious.

I'm sorry the wait has been so long, but when you stop to understand what I've gone in and done to ensure the game will be satisfactory once the demo is out, it'll be more apparent that I'm not trying to stall time or slack off. On the side I'm also trying to get my life in order, so that I don't end up living on the streets, because well.. if that happens, this game surely will not come out.

Patience is key with a project like this, and since it's planned to be big in scope, I expect it to take quite some time to get the actual full game out, compared to the demo (which will have only a fraction of the full game's content)

Again, I'd like to reiterate that, help on the project would be greatly appreciated, depending on what's done, currently I have artists on the project that cannot be directed to do much until the scripting portion is mostly handled.

So in this case, more programmers on the team would be really handy!
